Tacheles!

Dear readers,

I promise this will be the last post about Berlin! I am just so impressed by the city :)

So I wanted to write about this crazy arthouse called "Tacheles". This is also the place where I bought my 'tea-spoon-ring' (see previous post). It is housed in a squat and it's got graffiti all over the place. Different type of artists show their collection at Tacheles. The collections are really not the classic type of art, which you might expect. Let's say they think out-of-the-box :) Maybe it's better if I stop trying to explain what you will come across when visiting Tacheles and just show you the pictures I made from when I visited this arthouse.

Some weird art, right? However, if you want to have some more information about Tacheles or if you want to know where they are located so you can visit it next time you are in Berlin, click on this link.

P.S. Did you see me in the first photo? :)

New stuff from Berlin

Dear readers,

Today I found some time to make photos of the things I bought in Berlin. You have so many nice boutiques and artists shops in Berlin, I loved it! I bought a ripped skinny jeans from Phard, black skinny pants from Phard, a nude coloured blouse/top/body from Phard, earrings from Who Killed Bambi, a really cute handbag from Who Killed Bambi and a ring made out of a teaspoon, which I bought at an artist shop.

Which item do you like most?

An ode to Amy Winehouse!

Dear readers,

I heard the devastating news of Amy's death while I was in Berlin and I was totally shocked! Of course, I knew she led a destructive lifestyle, but still...
I find it so sad she lost herself while she was on her path trying to achieve her dream and when she finally managed to achieve it, she hit bottom rock! I really don't like the jokes which people are making about her death. I mean, it's not like this was the life she dreamed of when being a little girl and what about her family and friends who are grieving?! The world is sometimes so hard!
Anyway, I thought it would be cool to make a picture wall of Amy as a tribute to her. I hope you like it!

Love, Melissa

Amy, rest in peace!

All there is to say...

Dear readers,

As you already know, I love quotes! How beautiful is this one by Og Mandino?

"I will greet this day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? Henceforth will I look on all things with love and be born again. I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit. I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars. I will welcome happiness as it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge."

If we would only start our day by speaking these words out loud, I think every day would be a little more special! We choose how we live our lifes!

English Style!

Dear readers,

This book is so cool! It explains why the English style is so amazing and why everybody likes copying the English look. It does not only cover fashion and style, but also the English way of being. All is described in a funny and light way! Great book for when you're on vacation!

Luella's Guide to English Style

Do you like reading? If so, which kind of books do you like? I am definitely open for some tips as I will go on holiday in just 4 weeks!

Berlin...you're awesome!!!

Dear readers,

Back from my trip and what else to tell than that Berlin is GREAT!!! Too bad we did not have good weather, but it did not hold us back from enjoying Berlin as much as possible, only then in a different way! Let's say my friend and I have a great knowledge as to how Berlin is today instead of back in the days, meaning we enjoyed Berlin's nightlife A LOT! So not a problem to share some tips for a great night out in Berlin, as that is exactly what we did 5 days long lol! Whenever you're planning to visit Berlin, keep in mind that nightlife starts at around 3 AM. This, because Berlin does not obligate clubs to close at a certain time, so dancing until 10 AM is really normal! Also, Berlin is famous for its electro and techno, so don't expect a lot of clubs with reggea or salsa.

Anyhow, if you want to have a really great, but weird experience, try to go to "Suicide Circus" (I know, freaky name) or to "Berghein/Panorama Bar". These two clubs are so amazing! Believe me, you will have something to talk about. Just don't pay attention as to where the clubs are located nor to the decor!

Here a photo of Berghein:

And here one of Suicide Circus:

Another great lounge club is "Club der Visionaire" which is located at a waterside. Here a photo taken while it was still light outside:

Have you ever been to Berlin? If so, what were your favourite places to go to at night?

Berlin, here I come!

Dear readers,

Sorry for not writing as often as I would like to, but I have just been so damn busy! Tomorrow I will leave to Berlin for a short city break. I'll be back on Monday, but keep in mind that I will not be posting these coming days. Sorry for that!

Anyway, speaking about Berlin...has anyone of you been there? I've been there once, some 2 or 3 years ago, and I fell instantly in love with the city! I think it has so much history which you can really feel and experience when wandering through the different areas in Berlin, I describe it as Berlin being "raw". Aside from that, you have a mixture of cultures in Berlin, not just as in nationalities, but also in values and beliefs. I love that you can see a gothic and an almost nazi-like group sitting next to eachother on a terrace, while in the background hearing Turkish people talking. Oh...and of course, there is the underground scene of Berlin, which is incomparable to everything you have experienced. Great thing about Berlin is that it is really cheap in comparison with Holland. Where you pay 8 to 12 euros for a cocktail here, you pay half the price there. That is just fabulous! :)

For those of you who have never been in Berlin but want to have an impression of what the city looks like, I have selected some photos hereunder. These are by the way also must-sees for when you are in Berlin!

Catherine Baba!

Dear readers,

I was turning the pages in a fashion magazine when I read a tiny article about a stylist named Catherine Baba. Seriously, I have never ever heard of this name before. Apparently, Catherine, an Aussie, is a true fashion icon who nowadays lives in Paris and who has definitely set a name for herself in the fashion industry.
For those of you that don't know her either, here some pictures!

So far, what do you think of her style? I think it's really eccentric, but it does look good on her!

Giuseppe Zanotti Shoes!

Dear readers,

I just can't help it, I'm a true shoe addict and sorry, but I'm not ashamed of it :) This time I just fell in love with some, well actually, most of the shoes of the collection of Giuseppe Zanotti. He is just a brilliant shoe designer!

Have a look at my favourites!

Which of the above is your favourite? Or do you have another shoe by Zanotti which you like even better?
