The violet!

Dear readers,

It has been a while since I last posted a quote, but today I came across a fabulous one, one which I needed to read a couple of times before it hit me. Let it hit you!

"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it."

I think it points out exactly what forgiveness is all about, saying it with a touch of humor! Think about it! The violet is standing in a field, softly touched by the wind and warmed by the rays of the sun. Then, all of a sudden, some farmer with HUGE shoes comes along and crushes the violet, just like that! We, human beings would be screaming the lungs out of our bodies, letting the farmer know that what he did was unjustified and cruel and we would remain angry for a while, a few days, a months or sometimes even hold the grudge for a very long time if not forever! The violet however, crushed by the farmer's boots sheds its fragrances and by doing so, forgiving the farmer for its cruelty. Once the fragrances enters the farmer's nose, he will stop, smell and think about the violet and its uniqueness. Imagine we would shed fragrances when somebody hurts us...how amazing would that be? The one hurting us would stop, smell, look at us, think of us and would definitely be struck by our beauty and our ability to LOVE, despite the hurt. WOW...the world would be such a different place!

So, come on, lets all forgive one another, let us not stay in the angry mode, but let our light shine through us and on them!

Love, Melissa
